LCD Display

The 5330 IP Phone has a reflective, non-backlit FSTN display with an anti-glare coating. Given the size of the large display on the 5330 IP Phone, coupled with the most optimized font size and font type for maximum legibility, Mitel is confident that the advancements in display technology will ensure that the quality and legibility of the display is not compromised. Also, it is important to note that in the same price range, most competitors' display IP phones do not have back lighting capability. Mitel is able to remain price competitive with the 5330 IP Phone while still delivering a high quality display.

Cost-effective, Intuitive HTML Applications Support

The Mitel 5330 IP Phone HTML Desktop Toolkit enables simple, intuitive development of customized applications that are easily integrated with Telephony functions.  HTML applications developed using the toolkit will be able to run within the phone without requiring an external server, providing cost-effective implementation. More information of the capabilities of the HTML Toolkit will be coming out in Product Bulletin PB20060323 in mid-July.

Multi-function Programmable Self-labeling Keys

Users can personally program and label the 24 multi-function keys on the phone from either the PC Companion Application or directly through the Settings interface. Intuitive navigation keys allow users to easily move between multiple screens. Administrators will appreciate the ability to easily mange users though remote programming, eliminating the need for any paper labels, reducing installation and ongoing operational costs.

Peripherals Support

The 5330 IP Phone can be easily enhanced with any of the following phone accessories:

• Line Interface Module which allows analog connectivity for emergency dialing

• 5310 IP Conference Unit to provide instant superior quality voice conferencing

• Wireless LAN Stand, which provides standards-based wireless connectivity as either an access point or a client

• Gigabit Ethernet Stand, which enables connectivity in a Gigabit Ethernet environment

Handset and Headset

Two RJ11 audio jacks are provided for handset and headset connection. The newly designed 5300 Series Wideband Handset (7 kHz) v4 ships standard with the 5330 and 5340 IP Phones. It is designed for Wideband Audio on the Handset (7 kHz). The new handset is hearing aid compatible and meets the frequency response requirements of all markets. The handset port has the capability of detecting that a handset is present. This detection capability is a new feature on the 5300 Series Phones. The intent of the detection circuit is to let the firmware know that a corded handset is attached. In the future, when a cordless module is connected, the detection circuit will be able to detect if the phone is using the new Cordless Handset or the wideband corded handset.

The headset jack provides connectivity for commercially available headsets from Plantronics and GN Netcom.

Ringer

Ringing levels and tone combinations are the same as for the current IP Phones. The user may adjust the ringer volume level using the volume-up and volume-down keys while the 5330 or 5340 Phone is ringing. The ringer volume control has a 36 dB range in twelve 3dB steps. Using the volume-up and volume-down keys, the user can adjust the ringer pitch via Tone Demonstration Mode.

There are 8 ringer frequency combinations and 2 warble rates, resulting in 16 distinct ringer tones.
