This application allows the phones to be easily integrated into key business processes. With the built-in HTML player, the 5300 Desktop Devices provide an opportunity to deliver business applications for horizontal and vertical market requirements that can be developed in a standard and simple to use HTML development environment. And because the HTML applications can be developed to run without an external server, Solution Providers can offer cost effective, intuitive customization for specific customer requirements.

The maximum number of 5330 and 5340 IP Phones supported on a 3300 Controller are:

64 Phones supported on a CX Controller

200 Phones supported on an MX Controller.

700 - 1000 Phones supported on an LX Controller.

Please note that this maximum capacity includes any combination of 5230 / 5235 / 5330 / 5340 IP Phones as well as Hot Desking users and Your Assistant users. Please refer to the 3300 ICP System Engineering Guidelines for more information on recommended system capacities.

Multiple Powering Options

Multiple powering options are available for the IP Desktop, giving the user more choice and ensuring Mitel IP sets and peripherals are ready for the industry changes in powering the desktop:

Ethernet / AC Power Wall Adapter: Ideal for situations where it is not practical to make significant changes to the network or where back up power is not important to the user. This optional unit has two sockets, one unpowered LAN input, one powered LAN output, and plugs into an AC Power source.

Spare Pair Power (based on IEEE 802.3af standard): This powering option uses the spare pairs of wires of the Ethernet cable (2 out of the 4 pairs, which are not used for signaling). The advantage of this option comes from the fact that it is easy to add it into the existing network and selectively power devices. However, it tends to be more expensive per port than power adapter option, because you also need a separate power source.

Signal Pair/Phantom Feed (based on IEEE 802.3af standard): This powering option sends power on the same pairs of wires that are used for signaling. This option may require replacement of non-powered switches and hubs with powered devices therefore this power option may be more cost efficient for new installations. It saves one port per user and it does not require a separate power source, which is normally required for spare pair option.

Power Dongle (Cisco-Compliant): The Mitel Power Dongle (P/N 50003734 for a 10 Pack) is Cisco compliant. The 3300 ICP and the SX-200 ICP allows Mitel IP Phones to be powered from specific Cisco equipment. This can improve the cost effectiveness of a Mitel solution for a customer who has invested in Cisco data infrastructure, by utilizing that infrastructure to deliver power to the desktop devices.

PowerDsine 24-Port Power over LAN Hub: This unit (P/N PD-6024/AC) is IEEE 802.3af compliant and does not require power dongles to power Mitel  IP Phones.  Some benefits of the hub are that it ensures uninterrupted network operation by providing a “power safe” path to the user, utilizes an advanced discovery process to detect Power over LAN enabled terminals and protect legacy endpoints, supplies an affordable connectivity solution for any Ethernet terminal, provides tools for battery and main power management, and furnishes an easy and cost-effective installation with fewer cables and outlets.

NOTE: Power Adapters are NOT included with any of the 5200 or 5300 IP Phones, Appliances, or Peripherals because of the different powering options available and because of the global powering requirements. These must be ordered separately as required.
